EDUCATION CONNECTION administers a Carl D. Perkins consortium grant to provide an increased focus on the academic achievement of career and technical education (CTE) for the 21st century; Perkins IV promotes reform, innovation and continuous improvement in CTE to ensure that students acquire the skills and knowledge they need to meet challenging state academic standards and industry-recognized skill standards. It prepares students for post-secondary education, further learning and a wide range of opportunities in high-skill, high-wage or high-demand occupations in emerging occupations.
In addition, we have partnered with CSDE and other funders to provide a Medical Internship program for high school students in the New Milford and Danbury area. Students in this program have the opportunity to serve in a support capacity in real-world medical assistant role where they learn first-hand about the professional skills and requirements of serving in the medical services field. For more information about this or any other of our Vocational/Applied Education programs contact Jane Donn in the Center for 21st Century Skills.
