Adult & Continuing Education
Foothills Adult & Continuing Education is a consortium of 16 school districts providing free mandated classes and fee-for-service
enrichment classes for our consortium members and their communities in a cost-effective,
quality environment.
Foothills also assists to coordinate the production of major agency publications, manages conferences for the State Department of Education
and organizations such as the Connecticut Reading Association.

Career Opportunities in certification and certificate courses are offered in:
- CNA (Certified Nurse’s Aide)
- Food Handlers

- Para-Professional Classes & Testing
In addition to the required State mandated classes, Foothills offers over 400 enrichment classes per semester. These
classes cover a wide range of topic areas, including: Computer training,
Arts & Crafts, Health, Finance, Foreign Languages, Cooking, Self-Improvement,
Bus Trips, Online Learning, Writing, Dancing and Recreation & Leisure. S.A.T. and Drivers Ed Classes are specifically designed for students.
Courses are marketed in a 60-page brochure, mailed in August and
January, to 87,000 homes.
Collaboration is key to our success. We work with Department of Labor, Family Resource Centers, Head Start, Literacy Volunteers, McAuliffe Manor, Northwestern Connecticut Community College, Northwest Connecticut Chamber of Commerce, S.E.E.D., Workforce Development Boards and other public and civic agencies.
