Alternative
Education Services
Educational
programming in several different alternative formats is available
for elementary age children, medically fragile and profoundly
retarded students, middle and high school students with challenging
behaviors, as well as for adults of all ages.
Our
present schools are:

ACCESS
(Adolescent and Child Collaborative Education and Stabilization
Service) Alternative School - Provides educational and behavioral
intervention services. Designed to meet the needs of middle
and high school students who have difficulty in a mainstream
school setting. This program is a collaborative effort
with Danbury Hospital's Center for Child and Adolescent Treatment
Services. |

Gertrude
Fielding Learning Center
Designed to meet the needs of
elementary students requiring counseling and/or therapy services
in a therapeutic educational setting. |

Project SUCCEED
An elementary and early childhood special education program for
children with complex medical issues in the greater Danbury area.
The program is located at Reed Intermediate School in Newtown . |

Special Education Staffing (Itinerant)
Program
Our Special Education Staffing (Itinerant)
Program provides parent educators, teachers for hearing-impaired
students, therapists, temporary administrative services, and
PPT Services. (Please refer to the page on School

Adult Education Program
FREE
basic adult education and high school completion classes are
offered through our Adult Education Program for students
16+. (Please refer to the page on Foothills
Adult & Continuing
Education for further information). |
These Alternative Education programs allow us to meet the
diverse
educational needs of students in a variety of educational settings. We strive to help districts meet the educational needs of ALL students.
