Folk Tale Fiesta

Description:
This program is designed to provide students in grades 2-5 an opportunity to participate in a rich, multicultural language arts experience. By exploring various cultures and folk tales from around the world, students will expand their skills in the areas of Language Arts, Geography, History, Science and Visual and Performing Arts. Students will be visited by professional storytellers/musicians, read folktales, create art projects, study the geography/history of their culture, perform science experiments, prepare food, write in journals, sing songs and listen to music.

Students will:

Hear folk tales and stories from different cultures
Discuss folk tales and stories with their peers and teachers
Read folk tales and stories
Create their own folk tales
Create books and multicultural crafts
Perform in the program's culminating activity
