Fingerprinting Services

Effective July 1, 1994 Public Act 94-221 requires that all newly hired employees of school districts be fingerprinted for a criminal history check regardless of their position.

EDUCATION CONNECTION's Fingerprinting Services will process and forward your fingerprints and remittance to the proper state and federal authorities for a criminal history check, and notify the district in which you were hired that you have been fingerprinted. Once received, EDUCATION CONNECTION will inform the district of your criminal history check.

What does a local district need to do to have a new hire fingerprinted?

• Ask applicant if they have already been fingerprinted. If yes, call EDUCATION CONNECTION to determine the current status. If no, proceed to the next step.
• Provide a copy of the enclosed flyer, "Frequently Asked Questions" to each applicant to be fingerprinted.
• Use the applicable Certified or Substitute requisition form to refer your applicants to EDUCATION CONNECTION. Directions to our Litchfield & Danbury facilities are printed on the reverse side of each requisition form.

What does an applicant need to do to be fingerprinted?

• The applicant can call EDUCATION CONNECTION's Litchfield or Danbury campus, Monday-Friday, between the hours of 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. to make an appointment.
• On the day of your scheduled appointment, all applicants are asked to arrive five minutes early and check in with the receptionist. Late arrivals are subject to rescheduling.
• Please bring a photo ID along with verbal confirmation of your Social Security Number.
• Please bring a bank check or money order in the amount of $43.25 made payable to EDUCATION CONNECTION. Please Note: Personal checks will not be accepted as payment.
• In order to be accepted as a form of payment for EDUCATION CONNECTION's fingerprinting services, all fingerprint requisition forms must be filled out completely with the correct authorized signature.
  

How does EDUCATION CONNECTION service you?

EDUCATION CONNECTION will:

• Provide you with written confirmation stating that you have been fingerprinted.
• Forward the prints and proper remittance to the State Police Bureau of Identification for a local, state & national criminal history background check.
• Maintain your fingerprint information in a confidential registry for future reference.
• Inform the hiring school district(s) and the applicant, in writing, of results pertaining to a criminal record.
